Sawad Brooks was born in Bogota, Colombia and now lives in New York. He creates artworks which address the appearance and disappearance of knowledge technologies in contemporary society. With Beth Stryker, he is currently leading
Anarchive = City + Archive;--a software design & research studio at Parsons School of Design focused on issues and problems that arise when archiving (and retrieving) New York City. It is the first in a series of design projects addressing the issue of archiving in the age of digital instrumentation. He has studied Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, Art History at the University of Chicago, and holds a Masters Degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a principal at Utensil, a software design firm focused on making digital tools and toys.
