CrossFade: Sound Travels on the Web

A joint project of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Goethe-Institut, ZKM Karlsruhe, and the Walker, CrossFade focuses on the Internet as a performative space for sound art. The project spans different aesthetic points of departure and melds visual works with sonic components, creating a platform for diverse musical directions that use network technology. The site houses an archive of live events as well as an "asynchronous" area that presents commissioned media essays. CrossFade is a meeting point for artists and audiences whose paths rarely cross, be it locally or globally, aesthetically or sociologically.
